Peanut Butter Delight Bacon Pupcakes

Dogs love bacon and peanut butter! When you combine two of a dog's favorite foods in the world in one sweet treat then you have a delicious tail wagging recipe. Get ready to wipe the drool off the floor and make a few batches to share with the neighborhood dogs. Who said Fido should have all the fun in kitchen? Indulge your sweet tooth by baking yourself a batch as well. These pupcakes are scrumptiously  nutty and bacon-tastic in every bite! Go ahead devour!

Ingredients:

• 1 cup whole wheat flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/4 cup peanut butter
• 1/4 cup vegetable oil
• 1 cup shredded carrots
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1/3 cup honey
• 1 egg
• cottage cheese
• 6 slices of cooked bacon

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line muffin cups with liners.

2. Whisk together flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.

3. Fill prepared muffin cups 3/4 full. Bake in preheated oven 18-20 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center of muffin comes out clean.

4. Frost cupcakes with low fat cottage cheese and top with a slice of bacon.

**Optional: Sushi & Espy adaption- Crumble up a cup of cooked bacon to go in the batter to add more bacon flavor & crunch

But while you are on the hunt for that perfect furry playmate and couch cuddler consider adopting an older or senior pet. Because they are just as cute, cuddly and deserving of your unconditional love as a new puppy. Sure older dogs may have a few more wrinkles and gray hairs but they are overflowing with an abundance of unconditional love, licks, kiss and hugs. Their desire is to love someone and be loved backed. Sadly, senior pets often go unnoticed at shelters by potential parents and are the last to be adopted, while puppies and younger dogs tend to be adopted first. But older pets deserve to live their golden years in a loving environment, surrounded by a happy family too. Our caring friends at the ASPCA came up with a 10 list of reasons why you should adopt an older dog. Remember dogs of all ages, you are as young as the wag in your tail. So open your heart and home to a deserving older dog awaiting a forever home!

1. What You See Is What You Get

Older dogs are open books—from the start, you’ll know important things like their full-grown size, personality and grooming requirements. All this information makes it easier to pick the right dog and forge that instant love connection that will last a lifetime. If you’re not so into surprises, an older dog is for you!

2. Easy to Train

Think you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Hogwash! Older dogs are great at focusing on you—and on the task at hand—because they’re calmer than youngsters. Plus, all those years of experience reading humans can help them quickly figure out how to do what you’re asking.

3. Seniors are Super-Loving

One of the cool parts of our job is reading stories from people just like you who have opted to adopt. The emails we get from pet parents with senior dogs seem to all contain beautiful, heartfelt descriptions of the love these dogs give you—and those of you who adopted dogs already in their golden years told us how devoted and grateful they are. It's an instant bond that cannot be topped!

4. They’re Not a 24-7 Job

Older dogs are likely to already be housetrained—and even if they’re not, they have the physical and mental abilities to pick it up really fast (unlike puppies).
