Simply put, Best Bully Sticks loves dogs. That is why BBS hold fun and engaging giveaways not only to giveaway our products to needy animals but to educate our fans on local shelters and their missions. 

This week, Best Bully Sticks brings you a no-fuss recipe: 1-Ingredient Sweet Potato Treats. These yummy, healthy and easy dog snacks come from Sharon at Perfect Parties.com. Sharon began whipping up dog treats because when she adopted her Cane Corso, Avalanche's Cinizia Juniper Belle, or Cinzia for short.  

When Cinzia became the newest member of our family, I began baking treats for her. I love baking homemade dog treats because I know exactly what ingredients are going into Cinzia’s treats.  I can add the flavors she enjoys and since they are homemade, the ingredients are fresh and preservative free. One of her favorite snacks is the Sweet Potato Treats.

Here is Sharon & Cinzia’s 1-Ingredient Sweet Potato Treats recipe!

Ingredients
3 Large Sweet Potatoes: washed and dried about the same shape/size works best

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees

2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

3. Cut your sweet potato in half lengthwise.

4. Place flat side of halved potato onto your cutting board and slice into 1/3 inch lengthwise pieces. Do not cut thinner than 1/4 inch.

5. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.

6. Bake for 3 hours turning over halfway through.

7. Cool completely on a wire rack. 

Storage
Keep refrigerated up to two weeks. Store the additional in the freezer up to 4 months.

Best Bully Sticks remembers not only the American people who were lost 11 years ago, but also the dogs. Dogs in Search & Rescue teams were sent out to find wounded or trapped victims among the wreckage of the World Trade Center buildings. We can't express enough our admiration and gratitude for all rescue workers who worked tirelessly, sometimes giving their lives, in the pursuit of rescue. The dogs that were a part of those efforts were formally recognized last year on September 11, 2011. The video below shares their story.

What is Agility?
A doggy obstacle course! Agility exercises and trials consist of a series of impediments a dog must navigate around, through, or over. Dogs are judged for both time and accuracy throughout the entire course.  A dog’s owner or handler helps a dog navigate though the course by a series of verbal commands and hand or arm cues. The success of a dog’s run through the course depends on the communication skills between dog and handler as well as training before hand.

Sport Training
Training for this sport usually begins for dogs between the ages of 1 to 2. Basic puppy training is the obvious place to start. Building confidence with positive reinforcement will start your dog off in the right direction for mastering more complicated commands.

Training your dog for the particular obstacles in agility trials can be taken up by you or by a professional trainer. Classes with a trainer allow your dog access to the trial obstacles without you having to buy or build them yourself.

Obstacles
There are 3 basic types of obstacles—jumps, tunnels and contact—and a few individual obstacles such as weave poles and pause boxes.
