To Our Loyal Customers,

We would never offer your precious family pet anything that wasn’t 100% healthy and safe. Which means we are diligent in the selection of our suppliers. From all the suppliers available, we only choose the most reliable who provide consistent quality.

Our company was linked to a “voluntary” recall of treats from May 2012 to September 2012 from Kasel Industries. This FDA report from Kasel Inc. did not involve ANY contaminated items, only “possibly” tainted products. As stated in the report “Kasel Industries has not received any reports of illnesses to date in connection with these products.”

We’re sharing this information with you not because we believe anything is wrong but because your pet’s health and safety is paramount. And as an open company we would always rather err on the side of safety. However, we ask you to discard these treats if you believe you still possess them. We have tracking and lot numbers on all orders if you believe you might have purchased these treats. Please email bestbullysticks@gmail.com for this information.  We will be emailing all customers that could have been potentially affected by this voluntary recall so you will receive personal contact from us.

Please note, this is a completely isolated incident that makes up a minimal percentage of our total product offering. Though there have been zero reports of known health issues we ask that you be proactive and share with us if you have experienced otherwise.  Only the following items could have been affected and only from April - September of 2012.  Kasel manufacturers zero of our other products and their products were not stored or mixed with any of our other products.

USA made Chicken Jerky in 16 oz. bags only

Beef Knee Caps

Sliced Buffalo Hearts

Pork Jerky Strips

Pork Snouts

Lamb Hearts

Lamb Jerky

Turkey Jerky

Beef Lobster Tails

Again, we share this with you because we value you and your pet. Please share this information with your friends and family. Thank you for your continual business and support. -BestBullySticks

BBS Rescue Spotlight: The Mia Foundation

BestBullySticks.com had the great opportunity to speak with Sue Rogers, founder of The Mia Foundation. This great organization helps pets with birth defects that no one else will take. Read on to learn about the inspiring Mia the Chihuahua and more amazing pet rescues.

When & Why did you start?
The Mia Foundation was established in April of 2012 after the death of our precious Chihuahua, Mia.  This is her story.

My precious Mia was born with a cleft palate. Mia had several surgeries, (all of which had failed.) Although she was taken to the top Universities and to the top Veterinarians, she was given little hope of survival. I was told that euthanasia was best. I refused to give up on her and vowed to fight for her as long as she continued to fight. She was given a chance at life and even though her life was short-lived, she lived it to the fullest. She had to face many medical obstacles on her journey here, but she never let it overpower her love for life. Mia has inspired over 11,000 people from all over the world and continues to create Miracles every day.

Sadly, Mia passed away from pneumonia on April 11th, 2012 two months shy of her 2nd birthday. Her legacy lives on through The Mia Foundation which was created in her honor.

The Mia Foundation was developed to give animals born with birth defects a fighting chance. Mia was given a chance and in return gave so much love, hope and inspiration to people all around the world. I have come to realize that Mia was sent here to help us all in whatever way possible. She was brought to this earth to show us courage and unconditional love, she was here to bring loving, caring people together from all over the world and to teach us all to never give up no matter what obstacles we may face. She taught us to be brave, to be strong, and to smile in the face of adversity. Most importantly, she taught us all how to love unconditionally!!

Since her death, Mia's story has inspired people to adopt animals with birth defects that may have otherwise been overlooked or not given a chance at life and love. Mia has educated thousands of people from all walks of life on how to care for a special needs animal. She has raised awareness as to, "If they are born, they deserve a chance to live!!" Because of her strength, determination, love and will to live, she has enriched the lives of countless individuals. She had a zest for life unlike any I have ever seen. Her tiny paw left a huge imprint on so very many hearts.

Mia has shown us all that miracles really do exist. She changed the world with just one smile!! Read more

Dog Care 101 Tip #187 - Dog Comfort & Safety on Halloween

If you live in a neighborhood in America, the night of October 31st is busy! All Hallow’s Eve is night full of great costumes, flashy yard ornaments and maybe a future cavity or two. However, BestBullySticks.com knows Halloween can still be spooky and scary for some family members, particularly your dog. So whether you decide to stay in or go out, here are a few tips on keeping your pooch calm and safe.

Staying In
If you decide to stay in and hand out yummy goodies to trick-or-treaters, make sure your dog isn’t frazzled by the end of the night from frequent doorbell rings or door knocks. Here are some handy tips to work on ahead of time.

The Doorbell: Teach your dog to stay quiet when the doorbell rings by having a friend stand outside and ring the doorbell or knock. If your dog starts to bark, give them the “quiet” command and as soon as the barking stops, treat and praise your dog. Over time your dog will equate the doorbell with receiving treats and barking will become less and less.

Kid-Friendly: If your dog isn’t well socialized with children, make sure you keep your dog away from the open door. Halloween isn’t the time to learn. However, you should introduce your dog to children slowly and by giving him positive reinforcement, your dog will become kid friendly in no time. But remember, even dogs that are very kid-friendly can still be overwhelmed on a very kid-centric holiday like Halloween.

Simple Commands: It’s always good to remember the simple things like “sit”, “stay” and “leave it”. Work with these commands more than normal leading up to the 31st to reinforce your dog’s ability to take commands. Read more
