Lamb Heart Dog Treats

Lamb Hearts are a new and exclusive addition to our growing natural lamb dog treat lineup! Lamb Hearts are about 3"x3.5" and are just dehydrated lamb hearts. They are are reddish brown in color and are quickly becoming a favorite new treat. We are currently the only place to buy these exciting new treats! Lamb Hearts are organ meat and as such they are sure to become very popular with our customers who already feed a raw dog food diet! We have copied an excerpt from Pet Grub about organ meat as follows:

• There are two approaches to feeding organ meat:

  1. Feed organ meats in larger amounts twice per week.

  2. Feed organ meats every day but in smaller amounts

• Organ meats are a nutrient dense source of food and too much organ meat is not good. As an example, liver is high in oil soluble vitamin A (not to be confused with the vegetable source of vitamin A also known as beta carotene). If you feed too much liver then you will actually cause liver stones because liver stones are created when the body gets too much oil soluble vitamin A. In fact, the Inuit are well known for eating Polar Bear liver and as a result, a lot of Inuit suffer (especially in the past) from liver stones.

• If you choose option 1 and thus feed organ meats twice per week, then the organ meat should be approximately 50% of the meat source. So let's say, as an example, you were feeding 1 cup of meat. In this situation you would then use approximately 1/2 cup organ meat and 1/2 cup muscle meat.

• If you choose option 2 and thus feed organ meat every day then approximately 10% of the meat source should be organ meat. So let's say again, as an example, that you were feeding 1 cup of meat. In this situation you would add approximately 1/8 of a cup as organ meat and the rest as muscle meat.

• Hearts are a great item because of their high concentration of Taurine an essential amino acid

We feel that they did a great job summing up how and why to feed organ meats are are sure that your dogs will love these lamb hearts. They are better used as supplements or treats rather than chews except for small dogs!

Jumbo Cow Ears 

We are pleased to announce the launch of Jumbo Cow Ears on Best Bully Sticks.  These cow ears are HUGE and are about twice the size of a regular cow ear.  Like our typical cow ears, these ears are all natural and low in fat.  These are non-staining and will last a while for both large and small dogs.

Stuffed Gullets/Bully Sticks/Zukes

We wanted to let all of you know about new products in each of these categories. We have had MANY requests for our old stuffed gullets that came in 6" and 12" sizes and we are finally happy to be able to re-introduce them. They are lightly smoked and have a stronger consistency than the ones that are baked. Either way please let us know which you would prefer and we will try to accommodate you!

For our bully sticks we are re-launching sold older sizes as well! We are back in stock on 11-11.5" thick, 11" standard, 5" braided, and 12" thick bully sticks. Please work with us as our stock changes rapidly, if a bully stick product is available for purchase on the site it is available for sale.

We are also proud to announce the launch of a new flavor of Zukes treats. Zuke's Mini-Naturals have already been a big hit but we are now also carrying the Chicken flavor. Zuke's Mini-Naturals are now available in Chicken, Salmon, and Peanut butter; these are great all natural dog training treats!

Texas Taffy

We are proud to announce the newest addition to our growing catalog Texas Taffy!  Texas Taffy is made from the backstrap of a cow and we would consider it more of a chew for smaller dogs (under 30 pounds) and more of a treat for medium to large dogs.  They are about 8-12" in length and are made from USDA sourced ingredients in the US.  It is becoming increasingly difficult to find things for dogs made in the US, but we are committed to finding and sourcing the BEST products for your dogs!  If you are concerned about US made dog treats please visit our selection of Plato Pet Treats which are all made in the US; some are even certified organic.

Texas Taffy is like a long flat piece of beef jerky and is sure to please your dogs!  It also only has beef as an ingredient, as a rule of thumb we tend to like single ingredient treats and chews unless supplements are added.

Plato Dog Treats

Plato makes some of the finest dog treats on the market today. All of their treats are made in the US and the chicken dog treats are certified organic. Finding dog treats that are made in the US is becoming an increasing rarity and it is always nice to offer something that is made under the scrutiny of the US government.

Plato dog treats currently come in four varieties, however, they are planning on bringing out some new products out soon! The dog treats that are currently available are Kangaroo, Duck, Chicken, and Salmon; all of which have over 90% of the meat ingredient in them. The chicken, duck, and salmon varieties come in 2 sizes with the Kangaroo only coming in one.

The duck and salmon treats are particularly good for dogs with allergies as they are both considered hypo-allergenic meats. Kangaroo is widely considered the most hypo-allergenic meat for dogs, so if you have a dog with a sensitive stomach please consider these. Also, don't worry about the source of the kangaroo as it is from free range kangaroos that are naturally culled from the population; without culling the population kangaroo's would become too populous!

Plato is also introducing an excellent salmon oil for dogs and cats which we will be carrying on the site within the next few weeks. This oil is a 100% natural product and is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals particularly the Omega 3's and 6's. We are sure that this will make a great addition to an already high quality assortment of products from Plato.
