With a farm smack dab in the middle of “cherry country”, Overby Farm had heard for years about how wonderful properties of tart cherries help to maintain healthy hips and joints. In the summer of 2003, some friends recommended they try tart cherry concentrate, and they were right! They were kickin’ and rarin’ to go!
They wondered - why does tart cherry concentrate carry such a powerful punch? While asking a few folks at our leading university, they discovered that researchers have been asking the same questions- and even patented their discoveries. Overby Farm licensed these patents and got to work!
Their challenge was to figure out a great way to pass on the healthy benefits of tart cherries to our four-legged buddies. That’s when the fun began! They started chopping, mixing and baking in our own farm kitchen in Leelanau County(with their labs Abbey and Lucy as taste testers) and that’s when Hip Bones™ were born. The size of each individual bone-shaped biscuit is one inch long and half inch wide. These bones should be fed as a natural healthy treat, one treat per every 5 lbs. Hip Bones, Jr. also makes the perfect training treat for all breeds of dog.
